McObject has announced a partnership with UK-based MPC Data. In the alliance,
MPC Data will distribute McObject’s eXtremeDB™ and Perst™ embedded
database software, and provide services surrounding the technology, in key
European embedded development markets including automotive, mobile computing
and phones, consumer electronics, medical products, industrial control,
netcom/telecom and retail.
The partnership centers on the UK, Scandinavia and other northern European
countries, where MPC Data already has significant clientele. MPC Data
provides design, consultancy, project management and development services and
is recognized as a solutions provider for Microsoft Windows Embedded

Jease (www.jease.org), a content management framework based on the best in
open source Java technologies, has added support for the Perst™
object-oriented, open source embedded database system from McObject®. When
used with Jease, Perst becomes the persistence engine for highly customized,
content- and database-driven Web applications that leverage the productivity
and efficiency of working with “plain old Java objects” (POJOs).
Jease (the name combines “Java” and “ease”) provides building blocks
for developers with even a li... (more)
McObject has released a C#/.NET Framework application programming interface
(API) for its eXtremeDB In-Memory Database System (IMDS) and related product
family. The new API streamlines Windows software creation by enabling
developers to work naturally with eXtremeDB entirely within C#’s
object-oriented domain, while delivering the speed and efficiency of a
database runtime that executes in compiled C code.
When using the C# API for eXtremeDB, there is no external database
definition, and no requirement to compile a database schema. Instead, the API
relies on C#’s reflection capa... (more)
In what is likely the first-ever database benchmark conducted on an
off-the-shelf mobile phone, McObject® has successfully deployed its
TestIndex application on T-Mobile’s Android-based G1smartphone, to measure
performance of the SQLite embedded database alongside McObject’s open
source Perst™ embedded database on typical data management functions.
The comparison showed that gaps in database performance can be measured as
easily in this pocket-sized test bed as in more traditional benchmark
environments with rack-mounted hardware. On three of the four TestIndex
metrics, Perst ... (more)
McObject has released Perst 4.0, the latest upgrade of its open source,
object-oriented embedded database for Java and .NET. Version 4.0 greatly
expands Perst’s usefulness in a broad range of applications by enabling it
to add persistence to any object—including objects created by other
programs, those for which source code is unavailable, and even objects
created in different programming languages.
Perst 4.0 also adds rich new tools for developing mobile and embedded
applications in both Java ME and in Google’s Android environment. For Perst
Lite (the Java ME edition of Perst),... (more)
